Void Mapping For Artesia Public Schools In Artesia, New Mexico

Every construction company knows the potential harms that voids pose, not to mention the setbacks they can cause to the project. Ground Penetrating Radar Systems of Albuquerque recently helped Artesia Public Schools with a refurbishment project. They had an Olympic size pool that was leaking 8000 gallons of water a day and wanted to determine whether or not to fill the existing voids or scrap the pool and build a brand new one. The technician on site was able to locate eleven voids, which helped them in the decision they had to make.

Concrete sonar is a great technology for locating conduits, reinforcing steel and voids in slab on grade concrete because it only needs access to one side of the concrete. This non-destructive test also doesn’t emit any harmful radiation which means the test can be performed around bystanders, unlike traditional x-ray. The concrete imaging technology is extremely portable making it easy to perform several scans allowing contractors to locate a safe place to perform their concrete cuts.
